What is Guru Peyarchi? and why it doesn’t work always? – Answers in layman terms.

When it comes to astrological events like Guru or Shani Peyarchi, even the atheists are getting a little curious to find what’s in there for them😜. But then, those who already believe in Vedic astrology sometimes wonder why in many cases the prediction made by the expert astrologers like in the TV shows doesn’t work all the time? 🤔.
We’ll try to solve many such mysteries in this post in simple terms.

But before that, for those who want to get some basics about What is Rasi, Gochar and all that in very simple terms, you may find this video interesting. We’ve explained things clearly with illustration. We would highly recommend you to watch to get a quick grasp of all those techy astro words like Gochar, Rasifal, etc in simple layman terms.

Now, What is GURU Peyarchi ?

Most of you know that there are 9 Grahas or planets and also 12 Rasis or Zodiacs. Each of these 9 Grahas are always in movement that we find them to be placed at different Rasis at different times. Check the image to get an idea. So, when a Graha moves from one box to another, it is called Transit or Peyarchi. Simple right? Ok, now we’ll move on to the topic of this post, Guru Peyarchi.

Jupiter transit or Guru Peyarchi as it is known is a yearly astrological event. That is, the Guru Graha moves from one Zodiac to another roughly in and around 12 months’ time. This shift or transit gives a different result to different people based on their birth Rasi.

(Note: For those who don’t know What is a Rasi/Zodiac and How each of us have different Rasi? can read this and this post.)

So, What’s Special about GURU Peyarchi? – Speed.

Among the 9 Grahas, its only Guru, Shani, and Rahu-Ketu takes longer time to transit from one Rasi to another. Only these 3 takes more than a year to move from one Zodiac to another whereas all the others take at the max 6 months’ time to move to another zodiac. So, because of its longer transit duration, we get a chance to pre-plan, analyze our horoscope charts, and take some steps towards remedial measures to ward off any ill effects to be caused due to the transit. For all other planets like Mercury, though the effects caused by their transits are also critical, the time to judge the transit effect and apply a remedy is too short that in the gap you’ll have another transit in 14+ days. See the chart below.

But why transit forecast predictions are not valid all the time? –
You may want to read this to get an idea.

If we think, just because two different persons have the same Rasi, their future predictions should also be the same, then, even a child will not agree to such a conclusion. There are only 12 Rasis in total. All of mankind will have to share only this 12. So, it’s logical to see many people sharing the same Rasi. But still, if we are to believe such predictions from the TV Shows should be totally true, it just shows our ignorance.

The thing is, predictions based on Rasi is not totally wrong. But it just gives you one side of the story. That is, basically while predicting anybody’s future, broadly we need to consider 2 aspects of Predictive Astrology. One is LAGNA based and the other is RASI based. Simply put, what we see in the TV shows and magazines, all those predictions are based on RASI, which is otherwise called Gochara Phalan, and What we predict based on LAGNA is called Dasa-Bhukti.

Dasa-Bhukti in a Nutshell –

If you don’t want to know what is Dasa-Bhukti? you may skip to the conclusion section below. Others can read on to get an idea about why predictions based on Dasa-Bhukti are so important though it is not much discussed topic.

For this, let’s break the whole prediction process into a few simple steps to understand things clearly. So, let’s start from the beginning 😉. When a person is born, the horoscope chart is being cast out based on his date, time, and place of birth. This part everybody knows very well and it is mainly based on this particular chart that we predict a person’s character and every event of his future. But if you closely check the horoscope charts of 2 people born in the same month or even the same day, the placement of the planets in the 12 boxes will be almost the same. Yes, obviously right? why would planets move randomly for 2 different people? 😂. It should be at the same place for everybody at a particular time.

But now the question is, if planets are placed in the same place for 2 different people born on the same day, what’s the difference between those 2 people? how does the prediction work differently? what’s the uniqueness? The Answer is LAGNA.

Though 2 people were born on the same day, the LAGNA differs based on the time of birth. That is, basically in any horoscope chart, the placement of 2 things are very important which closely differs though people born on the same day. One is LAGNA and the other is the Graha MOON. Though we see the same planets placed in the 12 boxes in a ‘Rasi chart’, the first house might be different for every individual based on the time of birth. This first house is called LAGNA or ASCENDANT. Its the most important factor in prediction based on Dasa-Bhukti. Because, the strength, good and evil effect of all the planets are decided based on the First House. (Know how to find LAGNA in a RASI chart here).

So, based on the LAGNA, all the planet’s nature to give good and bad results changes. How? just an example, if the current Dasa period of the planet happens to be the 5th House lord, then the native may expect the birth of a son, etc. So, based the House counted from LAGNA, the planets may give good or bad results when their time comes to give that result. This is just a broad outline of what Dasa-Bhukti is or how Dasa-Bhukti works.

Conclusion –

So, basically, there is nothing wrong with all those general predictions given to the 12 Rasis available on many websites, TVs, and other sources. But they are just only half-baked predictions. That is the reason why we ourselves are confused many a times. We say that the predictions given at a time were perfectly correct, but the other time it doesn’t match. Because this time transit forecast predictions are counteracted by Dasa-Bhukti predictions. Hope this gives a clear picture.

Ok, now knowing what is Gochara and Dasa-Bhukti, that is, we should consider both the RASI aspect of prediction and the LAGNA aspect of prediction to arrive at a correct judgment, and for now, if you are just curious to know the RASI aspect of the predictions, that is Gochara Phalan alone but not sure whose prediction to take in as there are much different interpretation from many sources? Don’t worry. We’ll guide you here from the scriptures.
